b. 20 Jan 1918; d. 29 Jul 1980. Vernon LeRoy Acton, son of Owen L. and Emma O. (Gustafson) Acton, was born  in Windom, MN where he attended Windom Public Schools. He worked for the WPA for several years and also helped his father on the railroad before entering the military.

He entered the U.S. Army on 25 Sep 1940 and was honorably discharged on 5 Oct 1945.

After his service, he was employed by the Cottonwood County Highway Dept. for twenty-six years.

Vernon married Lois Wilkin on 2 Sep 1948 in Jackson Co.; they had two sons and one daughter. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and American Legion.

Vernon was buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Windom, MN.
