b. 12 Nov 1900; d. 29 Jan 1945. Alf Reider Nadckerud  was born in Oslo, Norway to Andrew Pederson and Gunhilda (Skukstad) Nackerud  He immigrated with his family to Ann Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN in 1901 and  grew up working on the family farm. He graduated from high school in either Ann Twp., or nearby Walnut Grove.

On 24 May 1917, Alf enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to MG Co., 1st Minnesota Infantry. On 15 Aug 1917, he was transferred to MG Co., 135th Infantry, 34th Division, at Camp Cody, NM.  On 5 May 1918, he was discharged.  On 26 May 1918, he re-enlisted in the Field Artillery at Camp Meade, VA.  In Sep 1918, his unit was sent to France as a replacement depot unit which saw no active combat.  On 10 Jun 1918, Alf was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Sometime in 1920, he was discharged at Camp Pike, AR.

Alf lived in the area until the 1920’s and on 1 Nov 1920 he became a naturalized citizen while he was still in the service.  By 1935 he was living in Cook Co., Chicago, IL.  According to the 1940 census, he lived in Riverside Co., Perris, CA and was in the service at that time.

On 29 Jan 1945, he passed away.  He was returned to Minnesota and was buried in the Saint Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, Cottonwood Co., MN.
