b. 17 Nov 1935; d. 06 Jan 2007.  Ronald Kenneth Porath, son of Kenneth and C. Norine (Rassler) Porath of Mountain Lake, MN was born in Buena Vista County, IA.  He graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1953.

After high school, Ron farmed with his father until he was inducted into the US Army in 1958.  After completing basic training at Fort Carson, CO, he was sent to Fort Jackson, SC, for additional training.  In late 1958, he was then transferred to Korea.  After completing his tour of duty in Korea, he returned to Fort Carson in Nov 1959 and was discharged in 1960.

Ron later attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He taught at Sioux Valley-Lake Park, IA, from 1973 to 1975 before returning to the U of M where he earned his Masters of Education degree in 1976.  Ron taught in the Butterfield-Odin School District from 1976 to 1986.  In 1987, he began working at The Toro Company in Windom until retiring because of health problems in 1998.

Ron Porath died at Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls in 2007.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and is survived by his wife, Diane; four brothers and two sisters; and a grandson.
