b. 15 Jan 1890; d. 31 Jul 1974. Richard Peterson was born in St. Charles, MN to Albert H. and Johanna (Anderson) Peterson.  He lived in St. Charles where he worked on the family homestead and attended school until the very early 1900’s when his family moved to Delton Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN.  Around 1917 Richard left Cottonwood Co., and attempted to homestead in Homestead, MT.

On 5 Jun 1917, Richard registered for the draft in Homestead. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and held the rank of Private First Class.

At the age of 52, Richard registered for the draft for WWII in Primghar, IA.

After WWI, Richard worked in Gary, IN in one of the mills and later in Hemet, CA at a Rose Garden Co.  He then returned to Cottonwood Co., for a short time and on 17 Sep 1924, he married Myrtle Belle French  in Windom, MN; they had two sons.  After their marriage, they moved to Peterson, IA where they farmed.  In early 1940, they moved to Highland, IA and continued to farm  until retiring in 1961.  After retiring, they moved to Ortonville, MN where they lived until his death.  While living in Ortonville, he was a member of the United Methodist Church.  On 31 Jul 1974, Richard passed away at the Municipal Hospital in Ortonville and was buried in the Mound Cemetery there.
