b. 12 Mar 1932; d. 17 Oct 2013.  Richard Paul Gillam, son of Paul and June (Seely) Gillam of Windom, MN was born in Windom.  He graduated from Windom High School in 1950, then played professional baseball from 1951 to 1953 in the Cincinnati Reds farm system.

Richard was inducted into the U.S. Army in Sep 1954 and assigned to Fort Bliss, TX, for basic training.  Following basic training, he was transferred to the Southeastern Signal School at Camp Gordon, where he underwent ‘Teletype Operation’ training.  In Apr 1955, he was sent to Clark Air Base in the Philippine Islands, where he served until his discharge in 1956.

Richard graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor of Arts degree and then worked as a Manufacturer’s Rep for Federal Mogul, L.D. Caulk Co., and Waterpik.  He married Gwen Duncan in 1966.  They owned and operated “Gwen-SanFrancisco”, a garment manufacturing company.  Gwen died in 1989 and, in 1994, Richard moved back to Windom.

Richard Gillam died in Windom in 2013 and is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Windom.
