b. 7 Mar 1894; d. 16 Mar 1968. Ray Omer Parr was born in Richland, IA to Hiram and Annie E. (Rice) Parr. Ray spent his young life living in Carroll Co., IA working on the family farm and attending school.  Sometime in the 1910s his family moved to Midway Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN to continue farming.  By 1917, Ray was farming on his own in Midway Twp.

On 5 Jun 1917, Ray registered for the draft in Cottonwood Co.  On 23 Jan 1918, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Battery A, 339th Field Artillery, (FA), 88th Division, at Camp Dodge, IA.  On 3 Sep 1918, Pvt. Parr was transferred to Ft. Des Moines, Iowa.  Again on 20 Nov 1918, he was transferred to Ft. Snelling, MN.  On 22 Jul 1919, Pvt. Parr was discharged at Ft. Snelling, MN.

After his discharge, Ray returned to farm at Midway Twp. On 8 Sep 1923, Ray married Ruth Hildur Martinson in Milwaukee, WI; they had three children and lived in Milwaukee.  On 30 Nov 1926, he was admitted into the U.S. National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Milwaukee, WI for medical observation.  Later, Ray and his family moved  to Rush City, MN where he lived until he was admitted to the VA Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.  On 16 Mar 1968, Ray passed away at the hospital and was buried in the Covenant Cemetery at Rush City, MN.
