b. 2 Aug 1931; d. 30 Jun 2001.  Oneil Flatgard was born in Christiana Twp., Jackson Co., MN to Oscar and Malinda ( Holmen) Flatgard. Oneil attended the Bergen public school before graduating in 1950 from Windom High School in nearby Windom, MN.

Oneil was inducted in the U.S. Army in Mar 1951 and sent to Scofield Barracks, HI, for basic training. In Sep 1951, O’Neil was sent to Korea and assigned to 2nd MP Company, 2nd Infantry Division and served as a military policeman until Nov 1952, when he was transferred to Germany.  He returned to the U.S. and was discharged in Feb 1954.

After his discharge, Oneil married Marlyn  Joyce Ramsey on 19 Feb 1956; they had four children. The family made their home on the Flatgard farm near Bergen until 1975 when Oneil began working for the Toro Manufacturing Co. in Windom.

Oneil was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Windom.

About 1985, Oneil moved to Fridley, MN where he worked as a security guard for the American Security Company.

Oneil is buried at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Bergen, MN.
