17 Oct 1896; d. 16 Sep 1982.  Olaf Edwin Erickson was born in Dale Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN to Brown and Bertha Ellen (Eggen) Erickson. He attended rural school in Dale Twp.

On 15 Aug 1918, Olaf enlisted in the U.S. Army at the University of Minnesota in the medical unit.  He was transferred to the 1st Army Depot, 40th Division, at Camp Kearney, San Diego, CA  The 40th Division was transferred to Camp Mills, NY before being sent to France as a troop replacement unit. On 16 Mar 1919, Private Erickson was honorably discharged at Camp Dodge, IA.

On 8 Mar 1922, Olaf married Margaret Mae Mathisen; they had four children. The couple farmed in Dale Twp. and moved into Windom after their retirement. Olaf was very active in the community; he belonged to the Cottonwood County Historical Society, Golden K Club, American Legion #206, Prudence Lodge, Shriners, Farmers Coop and the Federal Farm Loan Board of Directors. He was county chairman of the ASC, was a member of the Dale Farmer’s Club for 55 years and its president for 5 years.

Buried in Resthaven Gardens, Windom, MN.
