Neal B. Grunewald

b. 15 May 1935; d. 18 Nov 2017. Neal Billings Grunewald was born in Windom, MN to Frank D. and Hellen M. (Billings) Grunewald. He was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in Windom and later confirmed in that same church. Neal received his education in the Windom Public Schools; graduating from Windom High School in the Class of 1953.

He then served his country in the Minnesota National Guard from Nov 1953  and served with this unit as a ‘Prime Mover Driver’ until Jul 1956 until he was discharged in 1956.

On 30 Apr 1955, Neal was united in marriage to Norma Jean Pierce at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gary and Tammy. Through the years, Neal owned and operated his own backhoe company and garbage route for many years. He then worked at Kruse Paving, Woizeschke Tiling, Grunewald Gravel and then the compost site. Neal lived his entire life in Windom.

On November 18, 2017, Neal was taken to the Windom Area Hospital in Windom where he passed away at the age of 82 years.

Neal was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom. He had many enjoyments in life which including hunting out west, fishing, reading, looking for a bargain, his grand dogs, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
