b.  14 Oct 1920, d. 4 Nov 2008.  Miriam Ellen Evans was born to Burton Ira (B.I.) and Mary Ellen (Hildebrand) Evans in Windom, MN. After graduating from Windom High School in 1938, she attended Mankato Teachers College in Mankato and received a degree in music.

During WWII, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, FL as a flight simulator trainer for pilots.

In 1948, she married Russell Englehorn; they had 3 children.  The family lived in on the family farm in Heron Lake Twp. of Jackson Co. until 1955 when they moved to Windom.  Later, she returned to Mankato State College to complete her master’s degree and resume her teaching career.  She taught music in Chippewa Falls, WI, Chatfield, Windom, and Douglas, AZ.
