b. 29 Mar 1904, d. 3 Dec 1995.  Mervin J. “Merv” Hawkins was born to Thomas and Clara (Johnson) Hawkins in Windom, MN. He graduated from Windom High School.

On 4 May 1932, he married Vera Larson; they had no children.

During WWII, Mervin served in the U.S. Navy as a propeller maintenance specialist. He was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Minneapolis and later in the South Pacific on an aircraft carrier.

After his discharge following the war, he returned to Windom and became the business manager for his wife’s dress shop, interior decorating and drapery business.  In the 1960’s, they retired and at various times lived in FL, AZ, and IA. In 1987, they moved to Fairmont, MN and became residents of Maplewood Home.  In 1990, he became a resident of Lakeview Home in Fairmont.

Buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Windom, MN.
