b. 15 Jul 1918, d. 14 Jan 1999.  Melvin A. “Sonny” Holck was born to Peter and Rena (Gilbertson) Holck in Amboy Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN. He attended school in Jeffers, MN.

On 4 Oct 1941, he married Wilma Barker; they had 2 sons.

On 4 Nov 1941, Melvin was inducted into the U.S. Army at Fort Crook, Nebraska. He was assigned to Cannon Co, 32nd Infantry, 7th Division, and saw action in the North Pacific (Attu) and South Pacific (Kwajalein Island, Leyte, and Okinawa). He was honorably discharged on 18 Oct 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI.

After his return, Melvin worked at the Jeffers Standard Station, and drove truck for Standard Bulk Oil for 13 years. On 1 Feb 1958, he moved to the family farm in Amboy Twp.

Member of the Jeffers American Legion.

Buried at the Jeffers Cemetery, Jeffers, MN.
