b. 20 Dec 1839; d. 18 Jan 1921.  Leslie “Lew” Anderson was born in Christiana, Norway, and came to the United States when he was seventeen (Abt. 1856 or 1857). He settled in Jefferson County, WI.

At the age of 21 (1861), he enlisted as a volunteer in the 5th Wisconsin Infantry (Co E 5 WI Inf.).  He was wounded in the Battle of the Wilderness, which caused him to lose part of his hearing.

After the war, he returned to Lake Mills, WI, where he married Hattie Tousley on 21 Aug 1876; they had 3 children. In 1879, they came to Amo Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN and homesteaded in Section 20. They lived there until the spring of 1896 when they moved to Windom, MN.

Member of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.).

Buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Windom, MN.
