b. 25 Aug 1914; d. 16 Jan 1994.  Leonard Monroe Batalden, son of Meyer and Hilda (Quam) Batalden,was born in Highwater Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN and  graduated from Lamberton, MN High School in 1934. He then attended Mankato Commercial College and in 1938 began working for the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Lamberton.

On 11 Apr 1941, Leonard married Cathryn Sinclair at Osakis.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Supply Sergeant for the 439th Anti-aircraft Battalion while stationed in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany.

After the war, he returned to Lamberton to continue working at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank, retiring in 1976.  He then worked at the SW Experiment Station part-time for several years.

Leonard was a member of the American Legion Post 41, Lamberton Commercial Club, and the Lamberton Lions Club.

Leonard Batalden died in 1994.  He is buried at Lamberton Cemetery.
