b. 26 Jul 1897; d. 26 Jun 1972. Lawrence Peter Morris was born  in Council Bluffs, IA, and adopted by James and  Irene Morris who had immigrated from Denmark. Sometime in the early 1900s, his family moved to Storden Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN where Lawrence grew up working on the family farm. He attended rural public school and completed one year of high school. At the time of his draft registration, Lawrence worked in a lumber company in Storden.

On 23 Oct 1918, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 13th Prov. Recruit Co., Engineers, at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, IN. On 16 Nov 1918, he was transferred to Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. In Dec 1918, Pvt. Morris was discharged at Camp Forrest, GA. A short time prior to his discharge, Lawrence was taken sick with influenza and confined in a military hospital.

After his discharge, he continued to work as a farm laborer in the Storden area except for a short time when he lived in Milwaukee, WI in the early 1930s. Lawrence returned to the Storden area by 1935 and worked as a farm hand for an Edwin E. Moore for a number of years.  Later in life, Lawrence moved to  St. Louis Park, MN.

On 26 Jun 1972, he passed away while a patient in the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.  Lawrence is buried at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Hennepin Co., MN.
