b. 7 Jul 1896; d. 25 Nov 1984.  Joseph Edison Farnham was born in Great Bend Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN to Martin Henry and Lula Belle (Maxwell) Farnham.  He received a 4th grade education and grew to manhood on his family farm in Amo Twp. in Cottonwood Co.  At the time of his enlistment in WWI, he worked as a farm hand nearby.

On 28 Aug 1918, Joseph enlisted in the U.S.  Army and was assigned to First Co., Battalion Transfer Troops, 86th Division at Camp Grant, IL.  Pvt. Farnham remained at Camp Grant until he was discharged on 30 Jan 1919.

After returning from the service in 1919, he worked for his step-father, Jeman Wishart, as a farm hand in Weimer Twp., Jackson Co., MN. By 1930, Joseph was employed as a hired man for B. James Maxwell, an uncle in Dale Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN.  By 1940, Joseph moved to Freeport, IL where he was a farm hand for his brother-in-law, Stuart Stebbings.  Joseph never married.  He died in Aitkin, MN.
