b. 03 May 1930; d. 29 Jun 2018.  Herbert Neufeld Fast, son of Abraham and Agatha (Neufeld) Fast, moved with his 13 siblings from Montana to Minnesota at age 6.  The family settled in the Delft and Mountain Lake areas where Herb attended Mountain Lake schools.

Herb was inducted into the U.S. Army in Jan 1954 and assigned to Fort Riley, KS, for basic training.  Later during his military service, he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX, and the St Louis Medical Depot, MO, where he completed ‘Basic Medical Equipment Maintenance’ training.  After serving in Germany and France, he was discharged in Mar 1956.

After his military service, Herb went on to study at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, followed by 30 years of employment at Kato Engineering in Mankato.  During his tenure at Kato Engineering, Herb had the opportunity to travel to Egypt and Zaire, among other countries.

Herb married Marcella Bartel in Aug 1957.  The couple was blessed with two daughters, Andrea and Renee, and later eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Herb Fast died in 2018 in Mankato and is buried at the Mountain Lake Cemetery, Mountain Lake, MN.
