Nels G. Anderson

b. 24 Jan 1893; d. Apr 1966. Nels Gunnar Anderson was born in Sweden to Charles F. &  Klara L. (Ceder) Anderson.  He immigrated to the USA and arrived in New York on the ship Oscar II  on 3 Sep 1912. He married Bertha Clark on 6 Jun 1916 in Minnesota; children unknown.  At some time around 1917, the family moved to the Walnut Grove, MN area where he was self employed as a tiler.

During WWI, Anderson enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private at Jonsonville Twp., Redwood Co., MN, on 5 Jun 1917 and entered the service on 27 Feb 1918,  from Cottonwood Co.  He was first in the Headquarters Company, 352nd  Infantry, 88th Division and later was transferred to the 32nd Engineers.  He sailed for France on 15 Jun 1918 and left there on 7 Jun 1919. Pvt. Anderson was discharged on 30 June 1919 at Camp Dodge, IA.
