b. 2 Apr 1919, d. 12 May 2004.  Frederick E. “Fred” Halverson was born to C. A. and Vesta (Kingsbury) Halverson in Highwater Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN. He graduated from Lamberton High School in Lamberton, MN in 1937.  He then attended the University of MN, graduating in 1941 with degrees in Agricultural Education and  Economics. From 1941-1943, he taught vocational agriculture at Rushford High School.

In March of 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and advanced to the Army Air Corp where he soloed as a pilot. He retrained as a medic and surgical technician when the Army began transferring many to the ground forces.  He served in Company B, 363rd Regimental Medical Battalion, 63rd Infantry Division on the front lines during the invasion of Germany.  He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.

He married Pearl; they had 2 sons.

In Jan 1956, Fred was hired by Midland Cooperatives  as a sales representative.  In 1963, the family moved from the farm near Lamberton to Fridley, MN where Fred was employed with Midland as a Member Relations Manager.   He retired in 1984.

Buried in the Lamberton Cemetery, Lamberton, MN.
