b. 7 Dec 1913, d. July 1991?  Fred Louis Behrends was born to W.E. and Annie (Hippen) Behrends in Buffalo Center, IA.  Moved with his family to Mt. Lake, MN in the 1930s. Entered the AAC as an ambulance driver on 8 Jan 1942.  He served in the European Theater seeing service in England, France and Germany. After WWII, he returned to the Rake area and farmed there  from 1946 -1970. From 1970-1978 he was the Rake Community School Custodian. Married Eileen Yorath on 19 Aug 1944 in Twickenham, Middlesex, England.   He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Buried at the Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, IA.
