b. 2 Apr 1897; d. 28 Apr 1973.  Elmer S.F. Huffman was born in Storden Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN to John C. and Erma Arzalia (Carey) Huffman.  He grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the 8th grade. At the time of his enlistment in WWI in 1918, he still lived and worked on the family farm.

On 19 Sep 1918, Elmer enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Co. B, Dunwoody Institute  at Minneapolis, MN.  Pvt. Huffman remained at Dunwoody Institute until his discharge on 13 Dec 1918.

During the 1920s, Elmer married Leah (last name unknown); they had two sons and lived in Storden Twp. until the late 1920s when they decided to move to ND and farm.  Elmer owned a farm in Rugby Twp., Pierce Co., ND during the 1930s and 1940s.

At the time of his passing, Elmer lived in Kildeer Twp., Dunn Co., ND.  He was buried in the Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, ND.
