b. 19 Jan 1918, d. 7 Apr 1975.   Daniel Shelby Douglas, son of Joshua L. and Burley (McGhee) Douglas, was born in Dardanelle, AK. After high school graduation, Dan received further education at Mankato State College in Mankato, MN.

During WWII, Dan served with the 61st Engineer Service Company in the U.S. Army in the European Theater for 2 1/2 years.  He received an Honorable Discharge on 27 Jun 1949. He then re-enlisted in the Army Reserve on 28 Jun 1949.  During the Korean Conflict his unit was activated.  Dan was attached to the 194th Engineer Battalion and served in Korea where he received the Korean Service Medal, with 2 Bronze Service Stars. On 26 Nov 1952, he received an Honorable Discharge from the Army Reserve.

On 1 Jul 1950, he married Ruth Nelson; they had 4 children. They lived in Minneapolis and St. Paul for 6 years, then moved to Windom, MN in 1956 where  Dan was employed at Massey-Ferguson Farm Implement Company as the District Sales Manager for 25 years.

Dan was a member of the American Legion and was active in the community.

Buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul, MN.
