Chelber Manley Kulseth

b. 17 May 1921; d. 13 Feb 2000.  C. Manley Kulseth was born to John T. and Martha (Hammer) Kulseth on the Kulseth farm in Christiania Twp. in Jackson Co., MN. Manley attended schools in Windom, MN and graduated from Windom High School in 1939.

Manley enlisted in the U.S. Army in Sep 1942 and was discharged on 6 Feb 1946. He served in several different areas in the U.S.  After his discharge, he returned to the Windom area.

On 2 Feb 1949, he married Phyllis Williams; they had 4 children.  The family lived in Avoca, MN where Manley and Phyllis were co-owners of a grocery store/locker with Manley’s brother, Elven, until they moved back to Windom in the early 1950s. The couple farmed in Christiania Twp. through 1970. After farming, Manley began to work for Steffen’s GM Town in Windom as the sales manager/general manager until he retired in the mid 1980s. He then sold real estate until the late 1990s.

Member of the Windom American Legion.

Buried at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Bergen, MN.
