b. 15 Nov 1898; d. 11 Jun 1959. Arthur John Knutson was born in Westbrook, Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN to Erick H. and Mary (Sampson) Knutson. While growing up, he worked on the family farm and graduated from Westbrook High School. He later attended one term at the Minneapolis Business College.

On 4 Jun 1918, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Regimental Headquarters 10 Co., 74 CAC (Coast Artillery Corps.) at Ft. Schuyler, NY.  Arthur was a musician and played with his brother, William, in the Army band.  On 23 Sep 1918, 3rd Class Musician Knutson was sent to France.  His unit could hear the noise of the artillery but never was sent to the front.  On 9 Jan 1919, he was honorable discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, along with his brother.

Following his service, Arthur returned to Westbrook Twp. where he worked as a hired hand on a farm.

Arthur moved to Minneapolis in 1924 and continued to live there for the rest of his life.  On 25 Oct 1927, he married Dora V. Ross in Tracy, MN; they had  no children.  Arthur worked for the Standard Oil Co. as a truck driver until his death.

On 11 Jun 1959, he passed away while visiting his sister, Emma, in Westbrook. Arthur was buried in the Westbrook Lutheran Cemetery.
