b. 29 Jul 1888; d. 29 Jul 1947. Andrew John “Andy” Lager was born in Guthrie Center, IA to Henry G. and Williamina Lager.  As a young boy, he lived in Kanaranzi, MN where he attended public school, completing the third grade. His family then moved to Osceola and Dickinson Counties in IA where he lived until he moved to Lakeside Twp., Cottonwood Co., MN around 1917.  At the time of his draft registration on 5 Jun 1917, he worked as a farm laborer for Albert Kingsley.

On 22 Jul 1918, Andy married Hazel Marie Getting; they had four children.

On 24 Jul 1918, he enlisted in the U.S.  Army with the 3 Minnesota Infantry, Regiment.  His unit was sent to Camp Wadsworth, SC.

After his service, Andy and his family lived in Lakeside Twp. and farmed until moving to Carson Twp. (both in Cottonwood Co., MN) in the late 1920s.  By the late 1930s, they had moved to Dale Twp. and continued to farm.  At some time in the 1940s, he moved his family to Wilder, MN and lived there until his passing in 1947.  While living in Wilder, Andy was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom.

In 1947, Andy had a heart attack at his home and passed away.  He was buried at the Lakeview Cemetery, Windom, MN.
