b. 3 Jun 1918; d. 1o Mar 1997.  Alvin H. Nemitz was born to Herman and Elsie (Storbeck) Nemitz at Comfrey, MN.  He graduated from Bingham Lake High School in Bingham Lake, MN in 1936.  He then attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.

In 1941, Alvin married Evalyn Fisk; they had 2 sons.

Alvin entered the U.S. Army in 1942, during WWII.

After his discharge, Alvin attended watchmaker’s school in St. Paul, MN. In 1947, he and Evalyn moved to Windom, MN where Alvin was employed by Peterson Jewelry for 19 years. He purchased the business in 1966.  In 1981, he sold the business to his son Mark and retired. After retirement, Alvin became a co-owner of a Bonanza restaurant in Dubuque, IA.

Alvin was one of the original founders of the Home for Creative Living in Windom and served on its Board of Directors since its beginning in 1977.  In 1979, he was one of a group of three who built the Community Residential Facility, a group home. He also served 20 years on the Board of Directors on the Cottonwood County Day Activity Center (DAC) and financed its new building.

He died at his home and is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Windom, MN.
